Daniel is a graduate of UCLA and received his M.A. from Columbia University,
Teachers College in Computing and Education.  He has worked as a 4th grade teacher,
a special education transition teacher and a staff developer for a community college.  
Daniel currently serves the Los Angeles Unified School District as SIF/Project
Manager where he oversees the replication of New Tech High Schools.  Outside

Daniel earned his Preliminary Administrative Services Credential from Sonoma State
University in 2003, and was hired as Assistant Principal at Del Mar Middle where he
worked for two years before returning to an elementary school setting in 2005. His
experience of over 19 years in the education field includes being a Technology
Coordinator, Technology Teacher, Summer School Principal, and Character Education
Mentor. In addition, he has 15 years of experience in an elementary classroom setting.
Daniel is very much an advocate of technology in education. He shares a home with his
wonderful wife, two beautiful daughters, plus an energetic dog. Daniel loves working

Emily received her Masters in Educational Administration from San Francisco State
University, Masters in Education and teaching credential from the University of San
Francisco and her B.A. in Economics from Boston University. She has been in
education for 11 years. She began her career teaching 1st grade for four years,
then 6th grade science for three years before becoming the Assistant Principal at
Roseland School in Santa Rosa, Ca. where she has just completed her fourth year. In

JoAnne received her administrative credential from Chapman University; M.S. in
Marriage, Family and Child Counseling and Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) credential
from Sacramento State University; and her B.A. from Chico State University.  Her
experience includes school counseling in elementary, middle, and high school as well as
being a middle school assistant principal.  She was just appointed high school assistant
principal for the 2007-08 school year.  JoAnne loves to spend time with her daughter
& extended family & enjoys going to the beach and photography.

Assistant Principal, Celerity Nascent Charter School
Craig Knotts worked in the Los Angeles Unified School District as a Special Education
Teacher for four years and as a General Education Teacher for three years. He has
served as an educator in Los Angeles for over 9 years. His experience includes all
elementary grade levels. He holds two Masters Degrees in Education. The first
from the University of California Los Angeles in School Administration, the second
from California State University Los Angeles in Special Education.  He attended Yale
University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies. He also holds state
issued credentials to provide the following services: School Administration, Multiple
Subject Teaching Credential, and Early Childhood Special Education. He loves live

Administrator, Santee Education Complex High School, School of Public Service &
Social Justice, Los Angeles Unified School District
Yolanda received her a BA in Sociology and Chicano Studies from the University of
California Berkeley. She did research on immigration and education policy. Yolanda
went on to get a MA in Secondary Education at Stanford University. She returned to
her native Los Angeles and began working with LAUSD as an ESL and Spanish
teacher. She later went on to work on a second Masters in Educational Administration.
In 1997 Yolanda began her doctoral work at the UCLA in Educational Leadership.
Her dissertation College Immigrant Students, studied how undocumented immigrant
students transition into institutions of higher education. It was the basis for a legislative
proposal, AB540, which was approved and now permits undocumented students in

After serving in the military for 10 years, Paul earned his teaching credential through the
University of Memphis and began teaching elementary, high school, and is currently a
middle school AP with oversight of all academic intervention programs. A marriage
brought Paul to California where he earned his MA in Educational Administration at
CSUN. He enjoys spending time with his wife and 8-month twins mostly. If time

Monique is a graduate of Boston College with a B.A. in Sociology, & she received her
M.S. in Early Childhood & Elementary Education from Wheelock College. She
completed her administrative credential through the Greater Boston Principal Residency
Network Program (PRN)/Northeastern University. At John Adams Middle School
these past two years, she has served as a grade level administrator.  For 12 years
before that, she developed her skills as a founding lead teacher in one of Boston Public
School’s first Pilot small schools. She has also been a master teacher, teacher trainer,
charter school director, & research-practitioner. She finds her passion by practicing

Principal, EnCompass Academy, Oakland Unified School District
At UC-San Diego, Minh-Tram earned double majors in Ethnic Studies and
Psychology, and a minor in Women’s Studies.  Her education training includes a
Masters in Education Administration, Planning, and Social Policy at Harvard, and
teacher training programs at Wheelock College & New College of California.  She has
taught in Boston, MA, Oakland, CA, and San Jose, CA in public and private
institutions.  She was Design Team leader, then founding Principal of EnCompass
Academy, a district New Small School.  Recognized for closing the achievement gap in
2 years of opening, the school is based on teaching to the whole child.  She is humbled
to be a part of the healing & transformative moments occurring every day in urban
public schools and communities like east Oakland, CA.

I received my B.A. in 1969 from St. Mary of the Woods College in Indiana and
Master’s from Pepperdine University in 1997.  I have taught in a one room school  in
Indiana, several Catholic schools in the Los Angeles area but mostly in an urban school
district.  .Most of those years, I have been a math teacher but among the other jobs
I've had are as a math textbook author, a math presenter, a project facilitator, an
associate principal and now am immersed in the world of special education.  One of
my first loves is traveling but I’ve been caring for my elderly mother for several years

Annmarie Serrano received her M.A. and Education Specialist Degree in Educational
Psychology from Chapman University; her B.A. from Cal. State University Long
Beach, and a Preliminary Tier I Administrative Credential from National University.  
She is currently a Specialist within Psychological Services for Districts 3 and 7.  She
supervises and provides support to approximately 26 school psychologists.  Her
experiences include state and national conference presentations, research projects for
the district, and grant recipient from the California Association of School Psychologists,
2005.  She received an Outstanding School Psychologist award in 2005 from the Los
Angeles Association of School Psychologists.  She is an adjunct faculty member at
Alliant University and has been teaching for one year in the Educational Psychology

Sylvia received her Ph.D. and M.S. in Organizational Psychology from the California
School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles (currently Aliant International
University); M.A. from the CSULA; and B.S. from the University of Oklahoma.  She
has been an elementary school teacher, school psychologist, and administrator in gifted
and talented education programs, psychological services, and special education.  She
has conducted research; established data bases for trend analysis and forecasting;
supervised staffs of over 90, and acted as a liaison to the State Department of
Education;.  She has also taught at various universities, published in professional
journals, and conducted organizational diagnosis.  Sylvia is a wine enthusiast, LOVES
salsa dancing, and doggedly—and lovingly—finds every excuse that she can to visit her

Meet Amporn Suwanpratet!  She will become your new best friend in Thailand.  She is
a key support member of our Thailand Program for School Leaders.  And each
candidate from the past three summers, has come to rely on her for a multitude of
reasons. You will too.  Amporn works in the office of the Vice President of Chiang
Mai University, and also operates a travel agency near our hotel.  Our international
program is truly lucky to work together with her on our program. She can answer all

Dr. Orozco received her Ph.D. in educational administration from the University of
Minnesota; her M.A. from Calif. State University, Long Beach; and her B.A. from
Whittier College.  She is Director of the Professional Administration
Credential Program and Professor of Educational Leadership at California State
University, Fullerton. Her experience includes 23 years in educational leadership
including both public and private educational settings, district and county offices of
education, and higher education administration.  Major research and publication
endeavors include technology in education and administration, educating diverse
populations, as well as effective interagency collaboration.  She continues to conduct
